Mini Review – Puzzle Quest 2
Puzzle/RPG
Doogy Rev?
Puzzle Quest 2 is very much like the original game, even going back to a fantasy setting unlike the other sequel Puzzle Quest: Galactrix. That game pretty much showed the “if its not broke don’t fix it†ethos rings true. The game plays like every middle aged housewives favourite puzzle game Bejewelled with tacked on RPG elements.
The sequel takes out the random encounters that you got in the first game, which is good since you end up doing a lot of backtracking around the game world. Though it is very easy to get lost in the game world due to the fact it hand holds you around it and if you want to explore it can be slightly frustrating to find what you want. Namely going from the dungeons back to the village to see the smith about upgrading your weapons and armour.
If you want a fun, slightly no-brainer puzzle game to kill 5 minutes then this is for you. If you want a game that’s heavy on RPG elements and a complicated plot then this very much isn’t. I couldn’t tell you the plot of this game and it doesn’t matter if you know nothing of it anyway, since your choices don’t effect anything.
